Decatur Island Getaway

The three of us plus Grandma Collins spent the weekend on Decatur Island. For our first little trip with a baby, it went very well. Leana slept in the car for both of the rides to and from Anacortes and she woke up for the short boat ride to Decatur. At 3 weeks old, the caretaker told me she might be the youngest visiter the cabins have ever had. We had beautiful weather and enjoyed some nice walks on the island.

2009 has been a big baby year for our friends. Here are a few of Leana's future playmates that have been by to visit recently

Eyes Wide Open

Leana has gone from spending all of her time only sleeping and/or eating to having a few hours of quiet awake time each day.

One Week Old

On Saturday we celebrated by taking a walk to our favorite neighborhood doughnut shop (Top Pots). Leana never even woke up during the whole outing.

Family

Having my family here has been a huge help...Picard Grandparents are now back in California and Aunt Dannie is here to help out for the next week.

First Bath

It's a little awkward trying to bathe a squirmy little baby. Her hair definitely got washed, as for the rest of her body...it's questionable as to how much cleaner I really got her.

Name Pronunciation Disclaimer

leana = lay-on-a

We toyed with putting an accent on the ‘e’ to make it more obvious to anyone familiar with the French language but figured it would only get lost in the US and/or seem slightly snooty.

Jeff and I realize we have potentially done a disservice to our daughter by giving her a name that she will continually have to tell people how to pronounce, but we had some issues just finding something that we both liked and this was the winner. Anne Marie was chosen in honor of her great-grandparents Abe, Amelia, Molly, and Marie.
