Orcas Island

We spent the weekend on Orcas Island, one of the larger San Juan Islands. We went with a group of our friends: 7 adults and 3 kids. We had a great time and even managed to have some "adult" time where all 3 kids were sleeping at the same time.

Leana and Jeff braved the cold Pugent Sound water. Leana loved it, looking for shells and seaweed in the shallow water. We also did a nice "hike" up Mt Constitution, which is one of the best 360 degree views of the area that you can get. With a 4 month old, a 1 year old, a 2 year old and 34 weeks pregnant lady we decided to cut the 7 mile steep hike shirt and just did about 3 miles to see the view. It was the perfect amount for all of us!

Leana loved the backpack ride.
The top! This picture does not do the view justice. Mt Baker can be seen in the background.

Final Birthday Bash

After celebrating her birthday with both sides of the family, Leana needed one more party to celebrate with her friends. The highlights for her were definitely the cupcakes and balloons. The highlights for me were the smile on her face when she saw her cupcake and then when she ate all the frosting off of it, dropped it on the ground, and then tried to trade it in for a new cupcake with more frosting. Smart girl, I tell you.

Birthday Week Continues

For Leana's actual birthday, we planned a small family dinner with Jeff's family in Seattle. Thanks to the delays at the airport we had to postpone by a day but Leana didn't seem to mind and she had a great time eating pizza and cake and opening presents.

How old are you? "Eeww!" (always accompanied by one or two fingers by the mouth like this)
Directing me to cut the cake as quickly as possible.
Yum.

2 Years Old!

Leana turned two on Monday ("eewww" as she would say) and we had an eventful celebration spending time in four different airports (Monterey, San Francisco, Portland and Seattle). Leana thought this was tons of fun while I was of a different opinion. But we made it home with minimal meltdowns from each of us and now we are getting back into our routine here in Seattle.

2 year Stats:
Weight: 22lb, 2 oz (first weigh in with clothes on, she is so grown up now!)
Height: 34 inches (her first height check standing up against the wall, again, so grown up!)

Leana now has a handful of "words" including: "ew" = 2, "yeah", and "hi". She still hasn't starting saying the dreadful "no" of toddler fame but she does know how to shake her head quite vigorously.

We spent a nice week in California, where Leana had her first weekend without mommy or daddy around. Grandma Ruth and Papi Jean were brave enough to take on the job of watching her for a full weekend, with some help from Aunt Dannie as well. I can't thank them enough!

Leana also got to enjoy some chocolate cake from our favorite bakery in Monterey. I think she liked it.

Leana and Willa enjoy some fresh picked raspberries from Willa's yard.
