Birch Bay

Birch Bay is up north near the Canadian border, we spent a nice weekend there in the sun and rain with Uncle Greg and Aunt Jeannene.

Julian - One and a Half!

Our sweet boy, already 1.5 years old.  Leana was very excited to sing happy half birthday to him and to be able to tell people that he is 1 and a half now.  Doctor visit on Tuesday this week, so I will update his stats later.

Weight: 21lb 7 oz (3%)
Height: 31 inches (13%)

Julian has 12 teeth now and it looks like his upper canines will be coming in soon.  He is walking like a champ now, he can make it up one little step if he needs to without help.  He loves to climb up on tables, chairs and anything else he can find.  He is such a cautious boy (so different from his big sister!) and is very careful about going down stairs (turns himself around and gets down on his knees to go backwards).  He will also sit at the top of a slide contemplating the ride down for a long time, unlike Leana who would shoot down any slide of any height without batting an eye.

Juju's favorite things are still trucks, trains, buses, cars and cats (and his binky).  He says "quack, quack" and "cat" and lots of other babble.  I am trying to figure out if he is saying "sis" in reference to Leana or if it is just a sound he makes a lot.  He also LOVES to be outside, and thankfully the weather is allowing us to do that more often these days.

Leana's Special Week

We just finished Leana's special week in preschool, filled with lots of excitement.  We "traveled" to France (meaning Mom had to put together a mini-museum for the class and bring a French themed snack), had some very special "special guests" (Nana Kathy, doing a watercolor demo for the kids, Daddy Jeff and Julian) and Leana got to choose her favorite activities (dress up clothes and the climbing wall) and songs to sing at school.  There is also a "circle of the suns" celebration, like celebrating a birthday even if it is nowhere near the actual birthday.

Happy Easter!

We got lucky with summer weather in Seattle for Easter weekend.  The kids loved spending lots of time outside!

Easter was a big hit.  Leana loved re-hiding the eggs for anyone who was willing to keep finding them - including herself.  She even chose to stay outside and play with the eggs than to watch her daily tv show during Julian's nap.  Our friends Melissa and Maddock came over for brunch and egg hunting.
