Preschool!

Leana just had her first week of her new "pre-3's" preschool class. We are part of the Wedgwood Coop, which means I have one work day and and drop-off day. The teacher warned us that the first drop-off days for the kids can be difficult, but when I told Leana I was going to leave she gave me a kiss good-bye and ran off to play with the rocking horses. We are assigned "buddy parents" who work on the opposite day as us, so I left my phone number with her and took off for a glorious hour of Costco shopping all by myself. When I got back it was the last part of circle time and Leana was plopped right in the middle of the circle. She glanced over and saw me but didn't bother coming over, she was too entranced by Teacher Kari's song and little harp.
Overall, a successful first week of school!

Leana gets to bring a lunch on Fridays and she was very excited about using her new Froggy lunchbox.
Enough pictures Mom, let's go to school!

38 Weeks

Just 2 more weeks until the official due date. My belly has really popped out in the last couple of weeks!
Here are some pictures of the Deuce's nursery, pretty much all set up and ready to go. We are (mostly) ready for him to make a move!

Decatur Island

Leana and Jeff went to Decatur Island this past weekend with the rest of the Collins family. I decided to stay home as "a just in case" secuirty measure.

From these pictures it looks like Leana had a great time!

(BTW, so did I. Having a whole weekend to myself was pretty nice. Both relaxing and productive for baby prepping - just 3 weeks until due date!)

Back To School...

Today was the first day of school for most people in Seattle. People keep asking me how I feel about not teaching this year and if I think I will miss it.

My answer: I don't miss it at all and feel no yearning to go back. But ask me again in a few months when I have a newborn and a toddler to deal with and am sleep deprived, when the weather is getting bad and the days dark. I may feel differently.

But for now I get to take Leana on a fun new adventure every day, and with some of the best weather of the summer happening this week, I'm even more grateful for not having to think about teaching, grading, planning, etc. (Sorry teacher friends, not trying to rub it in or anything. It is still hard work dealing with my very active and stubbornly determined little lady every day!)
