Blueberry Picking

We spent the day in North Bend, picking blueberries with a view of Mt Si.  Leana instructed me on what to do: "Just pick the blue ones, Mama,  red and green ones are too sour".  We also got to have lunch and play with Janice and Gardiner, former colleagues of mine.  Leana told me she is ready to go back to the "new house" and pick blackberries next time.

Carmel/Dannie's Wedding

We had a great week in Carmel, filled with lots of activities: Aunt Dannie and Uncle Yev's wedding, beach trips, another wedding in SF (leaving the kids all day with Nana and Papi) and getting to see almost all of my awesome and amazingly fun 7uppers, and getting to catch up with our Philadelphia family that we don't get to see enough of!

10 Months Old!

Juju celebrated his 10 month birthday in Carmel last weekend.  He has some new tricks now: pulling up onto his knees and feet (which means we had to lower the crib!) climbing up one-step level things, getting himself back and forth from sitting up and being on his tummy.  He is still doing the wounded soldier style crawling (it's been more than 2 months now!) but he has gotten pretty fast at it.

Juju still loves cars, trucks, Mio and Leana, but is also really liking airplanes flying in the sky, swings, doors and boxes these days.  He is eating tons, still loving fruit and yogurt and he has been enjoying pizza and zucchini bread a lot lately.

Me Big Girl, Me 3 Now!

Time for some catching up...

Leana turned 3 last week and couldn't be more excited about being 3 and a Big Girl.  Now when people ask her old she is she says "3! Turn 4 soon..."  This girl just can't wait to grow up.

We had a birthday party for Leana and her friends on a hot, hot summer day, which meant running around in sprinklers half naked for most of it.  Leana had requested a green cake and cupcakes and the birthday girl got it all, a big green cake and blue cupcakes, complete with bug decorations.  She was so excited to blow out her candles (which she did successfully!) and open all her presents.

The last year was a big one for Leana: a new baby brother, huge leaps in her speech and communication, using the grown up potty and wearing kitty undies, going to preschool by herself and learning how to do (almost) everything "all by myself".  Leana continues to be quite the monkey/acrobat, insisting on climbing, swinging, dropping and jumping from anything and everything possible.  Her favorite things  these days are still mostly the same as a year ago: bugs, cats, animals in general, monkey bars and playing in water. And of course ice cream, cake, chocolate and treats of any sort.  I guess that's hereditary.

Decatur Island

Third trip to Decatur this summer, lucky us!  Leana even got to spend an extra night there, her first sleepover with Nana and Baba!
