Walking Box

When we made these boxes in my Parent Education classes, they called them "Walking Boxes" although for Leana it was a "Pulling Up Box" for a long time. Now the name fits.

Cautiously at first...


Then she realized she could go fast and got a little too daring. Learning curves can be rough....

Mother's Day Hike

My first mother's day was very nice. We went for a hike up Tiger Mountain, our first with Leana. Jeff carried her on his back in the Ergo and I carried the food. Leana slept on the way there in the car and was awake for the whole 3 mile hike up the mountain. She was having fun looking around at everything and only got fussy close to the top. Our nice picnic lunch was more of a "let's take turns shoveling food in our mouth" situation so that we could deal with Leana who also needed to eat, get changed and have time to play in the dirt. Then she slept most of the way down and was in a great mood so we stopped for frozen custard waffle cones on our way back home. A perfect end to our little family outing.

9 Months Old!

Leana is 3/4 of year old today! She celebrated by sleeping in until 9am (minus a waking up around 6a to have a little snack and play in her crib). I celebrated this even more.

Her latest tricks include:
-Lots of baby babble: she "talks" to things now and it is very cute
-Standing: she has gotten much better at standing and can only hold on with one hand now, sometimes she has gone a full second without holding on to anything! She can move a little too, go from holding one thing to another if it is close enough. She is also much better (gentler) about getting back down to her knees now.
-Eating: She eats more real food now like waffles and pita bread and would be happy eating nothing else besides these two things and bananas.
-Opening and Closing things: she loves to turn pages of books or open and close things like doors or her laptop.
-She now has 7 teeth!
